They are not powerful as Mordor just yet. But with the announcement of two new permissions that are being added to the company-managed projects, project admins are starting to get some real power. Let's face it, without custom fields, workflows, screens and everything else, this role is useless. Sure, you can add people to the project, change some project details, but for everything else like adding permissions, you need to be asking Jira admins for more and more.

Introducing: Edit issue layout and more powerful edit workflow permission. Workflows isn't something that you can mess with. Sure, spin up the sandbox and let the destruction begin, but on the production, its something that shouldn't been taken lightly. So as this permission. Even Atlassian says: This permission is for more experienced Jira users.

The thing with editing the workflows, you can literally edit any thing. Post-functions, validators, coniditions, properties. If you don't know what the f are you doing, you can cause some real damage. More quotes: '

Users with this permission will be also able to see lists of the following global entities in dropdown boxes when updating rules:

  • Events

  • Screens

  • Fields

  • Roles

  • WebHooks

  • Issue Security Levels

So more things are at stake now. Even if you have some webhooks for some integrations, you can break them for sure (or the ones with this permission).
